Dr. Duane Meighan was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Country Club Hills School District 160 on April 24, 2020. Through his leadership, the district has been able to endure and thrive during COVID. He was an integral part of the recent renegotiated collective bargaining agreement with the teachers. With his leadership, the district has been approved to conduct facility upgrades at all the schools to better support the students and staff.
Dr. Meighan has previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction in Freeport School District 145 as well as Director of Teaching & Learning at Arlington Heights School District in Arlington Heights, IL, and as an Administrative Curriculum Coordinator at Oak Park Elementary School District. His other leadership experience consists of being an elementary principal, high school dean of students, special education divisional leader, and special education teacher in Elgin District U-46. Dr. Meighan has also taught Adult ESL (English as a Second Language Classes) for 20 years at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois.
Dr. Meighan holds a doctorate degree in Leadership and Administration from Aurora University, an M.A. in Special Education from Northeastern Illinois University, and a B.A. in English Literature from Northern Illinois University. Dr. Meighan is a proud father of three children and a native of Chicago. He is also a member of AASA, ASCD, ASCD, IASA, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Dr. Meighan believes that school systems across the country must push back on the "status quo" to provide students with what they need to be competitive in this ever changing world. School systems must be advocates of innovative learning practices.
